Averages: Blackface – 69 ram lambs, £508.70 (-£55.89 for five fewer); 327 shearling rams, £350 (-£147.43 for 82 more); 44 two shears, £200 (-£147.67 for one less); 20 three shears, £217.50 (-£124.81 for six fewer).
A Blackface shearling from Willie Dunlop and sons Quintin and William, Elmscleugh, Dunbar, topped a multi-breed ram sale at Fort William, selling for £4500. The tup, a son of a £15,000 Dalchirla lamb bought in 2020, sold in a two way split to Messrs Parry, Marbrack, Carsphairn and Billy Welsh of Craigengillan Estates’ Beoch Loch Doon enterprise outside Dalmellington. Ram lambs were topped at £3200, by the pen leader from the Wights of Midlock, Crawford, purchased by Messrs Graham, Kirkton, Penicuik. He is a son of a £20,000 Dalwyne lamb bought last year at Dalmally. Entries from Stuart and William Heads, Aitkenhead, Fenwick, topped the ages rams at £1500 for a two-shear and £700 for a three-shear. Auctioneers: Dingwall and Highland Marts.
