The Blackface Sheep Breeders Association AGM took place on Tuesday 14th March at the King Robert Hotel in Stirling. Pamela Nicol and David Shedden were voted back on for their second term as President and Vice President respectively.
The prestigious Connachan Salver was awarded to Andy Hamilton, ex Glenmanna, Thornhill. This salver originally presented to the Association from the McCall Smith family from Connachan is awarded annually to person or persons for services to the Blackface breed. Tom & Mairi Paterson, Dunruchan, Muthill were presented with the Dunbia salver for supplying the highest number of lambs hitting the correct specification for the Sainsburys Taste the Difference range, achieving a record 96%. Congratulations to them both.
In the afternoon, the members present listened to presentations, at times depressing, but very thought provoking, on The future of Sheep farming post Brexit from Stuart Ashworth, QMS, Martin Kennedy, NFU vice president and Sybil MacPherson, past NSA Scotland chairman, the panel was chaired by George Milne, NSA development officer.
